That was the headline on channel 7 news last night. Missy and I wondered what they would call the next snow storm, if we get one. Would it be Winter Storm '08 #2???

New Cat

I just realized that I promised to put some pictures up of our new cat Bella a couple of months ago and I never did. I figured now is as good a time as any so here they are. I've also posted some pictures of our pretty orange cat Abbey so she doesn't get jealous.

Been a While

I have not posted anything for almost a month! I guess that's normal for me. I always get in moods where I like to write a lot and then I stop for long periods of time. Believe me it does not encourage people to come back.

We've got a new kitten in the house after losing our favorite cat ever to cancer in August. I'll put pictures of both of the cats up soon.

It's All About the Dogs...

The vendors were happy, the visitors were happy, the dogs were happy, the dog rescues were happy. It seems the only person that wasn't happy was Niki Voudren from St. Francis of Assisi. I say person because I don't want the whole organization to get a bad reputation from one rude, tacky, and disrespectful person.

Let me rewind a little bit. About a month ago Sponsor Hounds, the company I work for, got a call from Niki from St. Francis. Niki worked her way past Stephanie by inquiring about Woofstock Dog Festival and Stephanie transferred the call to me. Niki then proceeded to ask about the event in a very pleasant tone sounding like the organization might like to participate in some way. It turns out the call was far from pleasant and that she had no other intention than to accuse us of stealing the idea of a dog festival from St. Francis. She also said we cared more about making money than helping dogs. I think she needs to examine her motives before she questions ours.

You may not be aware of this (I say this because Niki doesn't seem like she was aware) but there are dog festivals all over the country. St. Francis in little old Roanoke Virginia is hardly the first organization to hold an event to benefit animals, just like Walk For Life is far from the only walk to benefit a charity in the U.S.

After getting nasty with me on the phone I heard nothing more from Niki although Waynette in the office tried repeatedly to get in touch with her.

Fast forward to the event, which raised more than two grand for three animal rescues. Niki comes to the event and places fliers on all the cars for Dogtoberfest, then proceeds to talk to all the vendors, ask them what they paid for the booths, and tell them she'll give them a better deal on booths at Dogtoberfest. That's where the word tacky comes to mind.

Niki seems to think that St. Francis is the only dog related organization that deserves money. It seems like she's more focused on starting trouble than helping animals.

St. Francis Wouldn't Approve

I can't wait to tell you all of the rude, disrespectful, and tacky things done by Niki Voudren, the Development Director for Saint Francis of Assisi, at and before Woofstock Dog Festival. We had the event over the weekend and apparently Niki feels like Dogtoberfest should be the only event benefiting dogs in the area.

Unfortunately I'm at work and I don't have much time now to write about this so I'll have to follow up tonight and tomorrow.

The purpose of this letter is to confirm that the above-referenced matter was continued until 9:00 a.m. on October 9, 2007 in the Roanoke City General District Court.

Isn't there some way I can make this go away now since I wasn't the one who hit their car and I can prove it. Why continue to waste my time if you know I didn't do it?

Lawsuit Update

I found out from the lawyer that the two women suing me claim an older man in a white Ford F150 backed into their car. They say a witness claimed it was me. I'd love to find out who the heck that was. They're obviously an idiot. I wasn't even at Boxtree Lodge on the date they claim the accident happened. And there isn't even a police report! Can you tell I'm pissed off???

Jim Cargill, the lawyer, told me he was going on vacation about three weeks ago. He said when he got back he'd talk to his clients and if they couldn't come up with a more reliable story he's send a letter to the courts making this a "non-suit". That never happened.

When I spoke with him yesterday he said I didn't have to go to court because he's asking for an extension.

I wish I had the paperwork here with me now because I'd post the name of these women who claim I backed into them. We did a little research online and found that one of the women suing me works for the company that catered my wedding. My first thought was that they wanted to get some money from someone after their car was hit and they just picked a random name...MrCargill assured me that was not the case.

I'm not an older man, I don't drive a white Ford F150, why can't this just be dropped???

Here's the Story

I'm being sued for a car accident I was never in. Two women (I don't know them and I won't put their names up right now) say I backed into their car at Boxtree Lodge in Vinton. That's about all the lawyer for the women (James P. Cargill, Esq.) would tell me before he told me to speak with my insurance company.

Since then I've tried to get in touch with him again to find out more details about the accident I wasn't involved in. He has not gotten back to me. All I want to know is what time the accident happened, and what proof they have that it was me (even though it wasn't). My insurance company has also tried to get in touch with him. He has not returned their calls yet either.

Boxtree lodge is where Missy and I had our wedding reception but I was not involved in a car accident there. This situation is just odd right from the very beginning. I'll try to get some of those details up after I speak with their attorney.

It just seems like I would have heard about the accident before now. So far I've heard nothing from police about the accident, and nothing more from the lawyer, and the insurance company is working on it. I feel like I'm in limbo. I can't build a case for myself because I've got no info. And it couldn't have come at a worse time with the Virginia Outdoor Sportsmen's Classic coming up this weekend.

I've been served

Why is it not enough that they send you a letter in the mail that says you're being sued, they also have to tape a sheet to the door that makes it look like you have a warrant for your arrest?

I came home for lunch today to find the same papers I got in the mail yesterday, taped to my front door for everyone to see. This is becoming a big pain in my ass and I look foreword to proving it wasn't me who did that thing I've been advised against talking about. (Don't worry, it's not a felony)

I want a Rottweiler

I never would have even thought about getting a Rottweiler if it hadn't been for last night. I just thought of them as mean dogs. I know that's wrong to think and I should have known better after meeting several wonderful American Staffordshire Terriers (Pitt Bulls). A Rottweiler just wouldn't have crossed my mind, but last night I met one that was perfect.

I went over to my bosses house for dinner and such, and her neighbor has a very young Rottweiler. It was playful and obedient and perfect in every way. It was the kind of dog you can play fetch with and also sit and watch a movie with (both are requirements for me). After doing some research online, it turns out the breed only has a bad reputation because of some bad owners who train the dogs to be mean because they're big and muscular. They're temperament is actually better than most other dogs! Here's a picture so you can see just how beautiful they are. And leave a comment with your opinion on Rottweilers.

Police Chase and Manhunt

Missy and I stumbled upon a crazy sight last night. While we were driving home from the new awesome Ukrops, a group of police caught our eye. They were in the parking lot of that gas station right next to the northbound on-ramp to 581 from 419. Well, their cars were in the parking lot. They were all walking in the bushes with their guns drawn.

As we came closer to the exit ramp there were more cops, ambulances, a fire truck and a car in the ditch. Then we noticed the LARGE group of people standing in the Tanglewood parking lot where they sell Christmas trees. We decided to join the mob.

While we asked what happened we watched as more police showed up and they were searching all sides of 419. Then when we drove by the Kroger we noticed more and more police. It was obvious they were looking for someone. Channel 7 has a very short story about the police chase that caused this crazy scene. They did not, however, have any info on who was missing, when, or even if they caught the guy.

I can't believe these details could be missed. Hundreds of people saw the incident, or at least the followup. Why couldn't WDBJ7 get the whole story?

Sometimes I think I don't have any visitors on this site. I look at the fact that I don't have any comments on my recent posts and think, I guess nobody cares. But then I take a look at the stats and I'm very surprised.

I run this website as well as all the websites for the company I work for (Sponsor Hounds). While looking at the stats for the Virginia Outdoor Sportsmen's Classic website, Kisforkat.com is the highest referrer. Which means that out of all the websites that link to vaoutdoorsportsmensclassic.com, Kisforkat.com is the one that has sent the most people there (and trust me, there are a lot of websites that link there). Thanks to everyone who checks this website often. I also owe Roanoke.com some thanks. They send me a lot of readers as well.

Traffic

I don't know how many of you drive down Ogden road on a daily basis, but judging by the traffic that was backing up there today, it must be a lot. Whoever was doing the re-paving on that road today was doing the worst job of traffic management I've ever seen. At first I thought it was VDOT but then I say a truck with a contractor's name on it parked on the side of the road. (unfortunately I didn't catch the name)

It took me 20 minutes to get home from work today. (a trip that normally takes about 3, and I'm not exaggerating)

Everything's Smaller in Roanoke

***Update 7/12/07***

Well, I never got a chance last night to post more on this topic, but I think we can all agree that it seems like everything that is proposed in Roanoke gets smaller, or doesn't happen. Not all of this is the City, for instance the development on the corner of 419 and 220 is a private development. That area has now sat bare of trees for a couple years. The city, however, is most of the issue.

Remember the great ideas for Downtown Roanoke with balconies and a rail car driving around the city. Well that trolley system may still happen, but the rest of it is covering the cutting room floor.

I just wish somebody's great plan would go through with flying colors.

What a long week for a short week. I'm heading to the lake for the weekend and we're going to cruise around the lake for a while, and then head back to some friends house to watch the race on their dock. What a great time that is. A New Prez...

Whenever I think about a presidential election I always remember the time I was standing out in front of the K92 building with signs screaming "BUUUUUSSSSSHHHHH" into a mic. Those were fun times and over all I've been happy with my decision to vote for President Bush. The Immigration issue and the war have not turned out the way he wanted them to (I don't think anyone is really happy with what he has done with those two issues) but he's still a likable guy and I think he's got our best interests at heart.

Which brings me to the election coming up. I listen to the AM radio regulars. Hannity, Limbaugh, and Boortz are blasting from my speakers any time I'm in the car. I'm a Conservative Republican but even Democrats have to admit that right now, Hillary and Obama are getting more TV coverage than any of the Republican candidates. Every morning, it seems, there are stories about fund raising for the Dems, Bill Clinton coming along with Hillary to an event, or who's ahead in the polls. Why is it not the same for the Republicans?

Even on The Drudge Report (a right wing news site) there are more stories about the Democrat two-some than about any of the Republicans. As I write this story Democrat candidate links outnumber Republican candidate links 4 to 1. I just hope this doesn't make people think there are only two people running. There are people out there who will only listen to the news and go vote without doing any real research. It'll be a sad 4 years in America if Hillary or Obama are elected.

I can't decide

I've been thinking about things to write about for this website, and most of what I want to write about doesn't fit into the new format. That just leaves me sitting here at my desk at home until I get bored and don't post a thing. I think I'm going to change back.

Back to the normal, everyday crazy things I think about and back the pictures of the fam and the lake and all the fun I have in a normal day. The great thing is, I'm not going to lose any readers since I average about 5 a day now.

Look for another new format in a couple of days.
