The Brisol of Last Year

Although the weather doesn't look so good for this weekend at Bristol (30s and 40s with rain and snow on Saturday) I'm sure we'll still have a blast. As promised, here are some pictures from the race two years ago...Including one of me touching an electric fence...Sorry mom.

That Time of Year

We're four races into the Nascar season and the excitement is just starting. This upcoming weekend is one of the most exciting races of the year and I'll be there.

The Captain from BargeInn.net was kind enough to sell me an extra ticket to Bristol, and I can't wait. Last year (or the year before, I can't remember which) we had a blast at Bristol. This time promises to be just as fun. I'll have to get The Captain to give me some of the pictures from last time. Until then I'll just tell you we had a lot of fun with beer and an electric fence.

Forest Fire

Today I took a drive out 460 to find the Forest fire that has been all over the news since yesterday. I thought judging by the coverage last night that I might find a little smoke...But it was a lot more than that. Today the news is saying it may take a few days before they can call the fire 100 percent contained. There's a lot of smoke and if you watch the fire there are times when it seems to flair up again. I love the smell of woodsmoke and it was fun being in the middle of a plume of it. Pictures don't do it justice but here they are...

I Was Just Thinking

About the fire advisories that Weather.com has been posting for about a week. This afternoon I went to Roanoke.com and found out that there was, in fact, a fire burning right here near Roanoke. The first time I heard about it the fire had burned 50 acres. Now it's up to 200!!! The fire is out near the intersection of 460 and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Maybe tonight I'll head out there and try to get some pictures.

Ask Me Anything...

I started a segment called "Ask Me Anything" about a year ago, but I didn't get any responses. Recently while checking the old e-mail address, I found several "Ask Me Anything" Questions. Starting today I will be running a weekly segment of "Ask Me Anything" and you can join in. All you have to do is click on THIS LINK and send me an e-mail with your question in it.

Let me reach down and pull one of the letters out of my bag...Ok...here goes...

Bathroom Crusader writes...

"You live with a girl so you should know. Is there ever a point when you aren't embarrassed about stinking up the bathroom. I hate having to a curtesy flush in my own home but do if a current girlfriend is visiting. How do you take the step from hiding the odor to being proud of what you have accomplished on your thrown?"

Dear Bathroom crusader, Why did you have to take it there for the first edition of "Ask Me Anything"? To answer your question, yes, there is a point when you stop caring what you're girlfriend thinks of that odor. The time frame is different for every relationship but it's usually around three or four months. As for being "proud of what you've accomplished on your thrown", you've got problems.
