Why O Why...

I'm not in favor of building two high school stadiums over a big amphitheatre, but what in the heck is wrong with people in this city filing lawsuits over EVERYTHING?

Look in the paper today and what do you see? "Residents file lawsuit over stadium zoning."

It seems that more than two dozen people in the neighborhood around Patrick Henry High School are suing the city because they're mad about how the city went about the re-zoning. I actually heard one of the people filing on the radio last week say this lawsuit is a shame for the kids because it will put off the building of the new stadiums. THEN WHY THE HELL ARE YOU FILING IT?

There will never be any progress in this town if compromises aren't made. The issue about stadiums should have been done years ago. Instead we're looking at another 20 years. LET IT GO!!!

The Little Things

I hope it's the little things that count on a day like Valentine's Day. Missy and I decided not to do presents this year because we're saving money. But there are some things you can do that will steal your woman's heart. I'm still trying to decide if what I did fits in that category.

I did the flowers, I told her I loved her, and then to top it all off, I did this...

Daytoner!!!

KisforKat.com and it's investors are proud to announce it's official sponsorship of The Barge Inn Annual Daytoner party!!!

President and CEO Elliot Broyles said in a press release yesterday "KisforKat.com has always wanted a piece of the action with the party. This year we finally got it."

Broyles is said to have dug deep in his pocket for the money to get an official sponsor position.
Word on the street is that he will be eating tuna fish sandwiches for at least one week so he doesn't have to file chapter 11.

Broyles says it will pay off. "We're expecting a 30 percent jump in visitorship because of this sponsorship.

For more information on the party visit www.BargeInn.net or click on the logo below.

Summer Is Here

There may be snow on the ground but I am in the mood for sun and shorts. What, you ask, could put me in that kind of a mood?

NASCAR

The Budweiser shootout is today after a rain-out last night. 21 of the best drivers in the sport take the track. The start of Nascar means several things to me. It makes me thankful that I moved to the south, It represents everything I love about this area, And it makes me very excited about 80 degree temperatures.

Good luck Jimmie Johnson!

It's All Out

Finally someone has broken the story we've all been hearing and talking about for a week. First of all let me say thank God Marc Lemarre is alive. Like I said before I worked with him and was praying the rumors that he was dead were not true.

Today the whole story unraveled. Channel 10 announced first that Marc was alive, but it did not give any information about his condition.

Now on the eleven-o-clock news Channel 10 is still running that story while WDBJ7 has a lot more details. The rumors that Marc was on Heroin seem to be true. Channel 7 is reporting that there has been an arrest in the case. It seems that Marc overdosed and was found in a tub of cold water, not breathing, and without a pulse. An Ohio man has been arrested and charged with providing the heroin.

He was revived but so far where he is, and his condition have not been released.

I hope Marc comes out of this all OK...But I'm worried there could be some problems if his heart stopped for some time.

What is Going On?

This morning the Roanoke Times reported that Marc Lemarre has been "relieved of his duties" at WSLS Channel 10. He's been here for a while and it would make sense that his contract would run out sometime soon, but there's something more to this story.

The Times doesn't have any details and Channel 10 hasn't said anything about it. There have been some rumors floating around that I'm not going to get into. . .but whatever happened I'm sad to see him go. I know Marc personally though not all that well. But the few times I've hung out with him I've found him to be nothing but an upstanding, respectable person. I enjoyed watching him on TV and I wish him success in his future.

As for the rumors. I don't want any of them posted on this website so I've disabled comments for this post. If you want to comment on something of substance, E-mail me.

Family

I was talking to a friend last night about family. I don't exactly know how it came up at a superbowl party over several drinks, but it did. He's getting married this spring and we talked about his lovely bride and my wonderful girlfriend, and we just starting talking about family.

More specifically people and how they speak about their family. I love mine very much. My mom, dad and sister have always been good to me and I hope I've been just as good to them. I talk about them all the time and always in the best way. But everyone knows somebody who doesn't get along with their family. I've heard stories about mothers stealing money from their children and brothers who steal or lie or cheat.

It fascinates me that someone would be willing to spill family dirt to someone they barely know. There's an exception for close friends. . .But when I meet someone for the fist time, and later in the night they're telling me all the juicy gossip about this or that I automatically have something against them.

Maybe it's wrong of me to say or feel that but isn't it worse to disrespect the people who should be the closest to you?
